Water-based Exercise

Patients must book and be seen for an initial consultation with one of our physiotherapists before deciding on whether pool-based exercise should be included in their treatment plan.

We’re lucky enough to have a pool at the main clinic in Milton Park which we often make use of with patients. Exercises in water have many benefits including; reducing swelling; regaining joint movement, retraining normal walking patterns, weight-bearing practice without walking aids and improving pain.

The on-site pool is the same depth throughout, making it more suitable for those exercising in water – but is otherwise a regular swimming pool with regular pool temperatures.

Physiotherapists don’t enter the water with patients, remaining at the poolside to give exercise instructions.

Users must be independently mobile and confident in water.
